Omega 3 and Vegetable Oils
When we think of Omega 3, which we think about fish oils, as they are the richest source of fat. We have good news for the vegetarian population, there are certain vegetable oils that can offer the benefits of EPA and DHA.
Vegetarian sources of fatty acids include flaxseed oil, canola oil, walnut oil, evening primrose oil and sunflower oil. As we all know, the oils are simply liquid fats. Vegetable oils contain one of three omega-3 fatty acids to be converted into EPA and DHA fats to be absorbed by the cells ALA.
Despite the breakdown of ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) into EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) takes time, usually is sufficient to meet the needs of omega 3 majority of the people.
